And when Abraham said unto his father and his folk: Lo! I am innocent of what ye worship 26 except Him who originated me, for He will guide me' 27 This is the legacy he left to his descendants so that they may turn (to God). 28 (Even when they began worshipping others than Allah We did not destroy them) but bestowed sustenance on them and on their forefathers until there came to them the Truth and a Messenger who clearly expounded things to them. 29 And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. 30 And they say: If only this Qur'an had been revealed to some great man of the two towns? 31 Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have distributed their sustenance in this world and raised the positions of some of them above the others so that they would mock each other. The mercy of your Lord is better than what they can amass. 32 If it were not that all mankind might have become one community [of disbelievers], We could have given all those who deny the Lord of Mercy, houses with roofs of silver, silver staircases to ascend, 33 doors for their houses, couches on which to recline, 34 And ornaments of gold. But all this would have been nothing but the vanity of this world. The Hereafter with your Lord is for those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path. 35
