(Remember) when Abraham, said to his father and his nation: 'I am quit from what you worship, 26 Other than Him who created me. He will show me the right way." 27 He made this an abiding word among his descendants, in order that they would return. 28 In fact I gave them and their forefathers the usage of this world until the truth and the Noble Messenger who conveyed the message clearly, came to them. 29 But when the Truth came to them, they said: "This is sorcery, and we do reject it." 30 And they said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?" 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We should make for those who disbelieve in the Compassionate roofs of silver for their houses and silver stairways whereby they ascend. 33 And doors of silver for their houses and couches of silver upon which they would recline. 34 or that they be made of gold. Surely all this is only the enjoyment of the life of the world. But (true prosperity) in the Hereafter with Your Lord is only for the God-fearing. 35
