And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 Until when he cometh unto Us, he will say. Ah! would that there had been between me and thee, the distance of the east and the west an evil companion 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 (Muhammad), can you make the deaf hear or guide the blind or the one who is clearly in error? 40 Even if We take you away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 or We shall show you what We have promised them; for surely We have complete power over them. 42 Therefore, hold fast to that which is revealed to you, indeed, you are on the Straight Path. 43 It is indeed a Reminder to you and to your nation, and without doubt you shall be questioned. 44 You can ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We had commanded them to worship other gods besides the Beneficent God?" 45
