And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 whereupon, behold, these [evil impulses] bar all such from the path [of truth,] making them think that they are guided aright! 37 Until when he comes before Us he will say (to the devil): "Would to God there was a distance of the East and West between you and me, for you were an evil companion!" 38 And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment. 39 What! can you then make the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who is in clear error? 40 We shall inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from the world (before We do that), 41 or We shall show you what We have promised them; for surely We have complete power over them. 42 So hold you (O Muhammad SAW) fast to that which is inspired in you. Verily, you are on a Straight Path. 43 It is a (source) of greatness for you and your people. You will surely be questioned about it. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
