But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 Until when he cometh unto Us, he will say. Ah! would that there had been between me and thee, the distance of the east and the west an evil companion 38 And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement. 39 Canst thou (Muhammad) make the deaf to hear, or canst thou guide the blind or him who is in error manifest? 40 And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them. 41 Or if We shew thee that wherewith We threaten them, verily We are going to prevail over them. 42 Therefore, hold fast to that which is revealed to you, indeed, you are on the Straight Path. 43 And lo! it is in truth a Reminder for thee and for thy folk; and ye will be questioned. 44 And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped? 45
