He who is negligent to remember the Merciful One, to him We assign a satan as his boon companion, 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)! 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 Or show you what We have promised them – We therefore have complete control over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to what We have divinely revealed to you; indeed you are upon the Straight Path. (The Holy Prophets can never go astray). 43 And lo! it is in truth a Reminder for thee and for thy folk; and ye will be questioned. 44 You can ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We had commanded them to worship other gods besides the Beneficent God?" 45
