And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade; 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)! 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 We shall inflict retribution on them, whether We take you away from the world (before We do that), 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 Hold thou fast wherefore to that which is revealed unto thee: verily thou art on the straight path. 43 Surely it is a Reminder to thee and to thy people; and assuredly you will be questioned. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
