And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 Surely the (devils) obstruct them from the path, though they think they are rightly guided, -- 37 When such a person comes to Us, he will say [to his comrade], "If only you had been as far away from me as east is from west. What an evil comrade!" 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 And ask (O Muhammad SAW) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint aliha (gods) to be worshipped besides the Most Beneficent (Allah)?" 45
