۞ And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. 57 "Are our gods any better than Jesus (for according to Muhammad), if our gods go to hell so too will Jesus. What they say is only a false argument. In fact, they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He is only a servant We blessed, and We made him to be an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another] on the earth. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 Let not Satan misdirect you. He is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 63 "Verily, God is my Sustainer as well as your Sustainer; so worship [none but] Him: this [alone] is a straight way!" 64 Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
