۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 [As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood,] and whom We made an example for the children of Israel. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol: 25, Page 89]. 60 And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path. 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 When Jesus came with the signs, he said: "I have come to you with authority, and to explain some thing about which you are at variance. So fear God, and follow me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
