۞ When the son of Mary was mentioned as an example, you people cried out in protest, saying, 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 [As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood,] and whom We made an example for the children of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 It is knowledge of the Hour; doubt not concerning it, and follow me. This is a straight path. 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when Isa came with evidences, he said: of a surety I have come unto you with wisdom, and to expound unto you some of that wherein ye differ; so fear Allah and obey me. 63 God is your Lord and my Lord, so worship Him. This is the right path". 64 But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong (by ascribing things to 'Iesa (Jesus) that are not true) from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 65 Are they merely waiting for the Hour, which will come upon them suddenly and take them unawares? 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
