۞ And when the son of Mary is cited as an example, behold, thy people turn away from it 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel. 59 And had We willed We could have appointed angels born of you in the earth to succeed each other. 60 And he ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Iesa's (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise). 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 Verily God is my Lord and your Lord; so worship Him. This is the straight path." 64 But factions from among those [who came after Jesus] began to hold divergent views: woe, then, unto those who are bent on evildoing - [woe] for the suffering [that will befall them] on a grievous Day! 65 Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not? 66 The intimate friends on that Day will be hostile unto one another save the God-fearing. 67
