Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 (That) We sent it down one night of blessing -- so that We could warn -- 3 On that night is made distinct every precise matter - 4 [Every] matter [proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] 5 as a Mercy from your Lord. Surely He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; if you people believe. 7 there is no deity save Him: It is He who gives both life and death -- He is your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers, 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 enveloping people. That will be a grievous scourge. 11 Then they will say, "Lord, relieve us from this torment, for truly we are now believers in You." 12 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? 13 yet they turned away from him and said: “This is a well-tutored madman.” 14 We are removing the punishment a little, but you revert. 15 Upon the day when We shall assault most mightily, then We shall take Our vengeance. 16 ۞ And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, 17 [Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger," 18 Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority. 19 And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death: 20 And if you do not believe me, then leave me' 21 And he called to his Lord, saying, 'These are a sinful people.' 22 We told him, "Leave the city with My servants during the night. You will be pursued. 23 Then leave the sea calm they are an army that will be drowned. 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 And goodly things wherein they rejoiced; 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29
