Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the manifest Book (this Quran) that makes things clear, 2 Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning - 3 In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom, 4 Amran (i.e. a Command or this Quran or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), 5 A mercy from your Lord; indeed He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 6 He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would have strong faith. 7 There is no god but He. He quickeneth and causeth to die: your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 Wait, then, for the Day when the sky brings forth plainly visible clouds of smoke. 10 enveloping all mankind, [and causing the sinners to exclaim:] "Grievous is this suffering! 11 (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" 12 But how will they take heed? Such are they that a Messenger came to them clearly expounding the Truth, 13 And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman? 14 Verily We shall remove the torment for a while; but verily ye shall revert. 15 On the Day We inflict the direst scourge upon all sinners, We will certainly exact retribution. 16 ۞ And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger, 17 "Deliver the creatures of God to me. I am the trusted messenger sent to you. 18 And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant. 19 and, behold, it is with my Sustainer - and your Sustainer - that I seek refuge against all your endeavours to revile me. 20 And if you do not believe me, [at least] stand away from me!" 21 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “These are a guilty nation!” 22 So depart thou with My bondmen by night; verily ye shall be pursued. 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 corn-fields, gracious mansions, 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 Thus it was; and We made another people inherit all that. 28 And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. 29
