And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Save those on whom Allah shall have mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful. 42
