And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge, above all beings, 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The Day when no relation will avail a relation at all, nor will they be helped - 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
