And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds. 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 save him upon whom God has mercy; He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 42
