Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom; 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
