We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds. 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 Even then they say: 34 "There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.” 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 save him upon whom God has mercy; He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 42
