Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors. 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
