We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 These men do say, 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
