We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Indeed the Day of Decision is the appointment for all of them. 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
