We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
