And assuredly We delivered the Children of Isra'il from an ignominous torment 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 Indeed the Day of Decision is the appointment for all of them. 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
