and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
