We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
