Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
