And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 And assuredly We elected them with knowledge above the worlds. 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
