Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 the day a master shall avail nothing a client, and they shall not be helped, 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
