And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
