And indeed, We delivered the children of Israel from the shameful suffering 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
