And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 “This is our first and only death, and we shall never be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
