And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
