Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
