Verily the tree of Zaqqum: 43 Will be the food of the sinners, 44 like the dregs of oil, it shall boil in their bellies, 45 like the boiling of hot water. 46 “Seize him and drag him to the middle of the Blazing Fire, 47 Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water. 48 Taste this; you who considered yourself the mighty, the honourable! 49 “Indeed this is what you used to doubt about.” 50 Surely the godfearing shall be in a station secure 51 In gardens and springs; 52 Attired in silk and silk embroidery, facing one another. 53 so it will be. We shall wed them to maidens with large, dark eyes. 54 They will call therein for every kind of fruit in security. 55 They shall not taste therein of death, save the first death, And He shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell -- 56 By the beneficence of your Lord. This will be the great success. 57 And We have made this Qur’an easy in your language, for them to understand. 58 So be on the watch; they too are on the watch. 59

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
