Lo, the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum 43 Is the food of the sinful 44 Like the dregs of all! It shall seethe in the bellies: 45 Like the boiling of scalding water. 46 “Seize him and drag him to the middle of the Blazing Fire, 47 Then pour above his head of the torment of the boiling water: 48 Taste; you forsooth are the mighty, the honorable: 49 Verily this is that whereof ye were wont to doubt. 50 Indeed, for those who feared (Allah) is a secure place 51 Among Gardens and Springs; 52 dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, and they will face each other: 53 So it is; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 54 There in security, they will call for every kind of fruit. 55 They will never taste death therein except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire, 56 A grace from your Lord; this is the great achievement. 57 THUS, THEN, [O Prophet,] have We made this [divine writ] easy to understand, in thine own [human] tongue, so that men might take it to heart. 58 Wait then (O Muhammad SAW); Verily, they (too) are waiting. 59

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
