And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge). 16 Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes. 17 There is not a word he utters but an observer is ready (to make note of it). 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!" 19 And the trumpet will be blown: this is the Day of the Threatening. 20 Each soul will come with a driver and a witness. 21 (It will be said:) "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!" 22 His companion attendant will say, "I have here his record ready." 23 Do cast into hell every ungrateful, rebellious one, 24 [every] withholder of good [and] sinful aggressor [and] fomentor of distrust [between man and man - everyone] 25 who has set up with Allah another god. Indeed, you two, cast him into the terrible punishment' 26 ۞ His accompanying devil said, “Our Lord! I did not cause him to rebel, but he himself was in extreme error.” 27 He saith: Contend not in My presence, when I had already proffered unto you the warning. 28 The judgment passed by Me shall not be altered; but never do I do the least wrong unto My creatures!" 29
