It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 When the two Receivers receive (him), seated on the right hand and on the left, 17 He uttereth no word but there is with him an observer ready. 18 And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!" 19 And the trumpet shall be blown; that is the day of the threatening. 20 And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 You were heedless of this. Now We have removed your veil and so your vision today is sharp. 22 His companion attendant will say, "I have here his record ready." 23 (And it is said): Do ye twain hurl to hell each rebel ingrate, 24 Preventer of good, aggressor, and doubter, 25 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty." 26 ۞ And his comrade shall say, 'Our Lord, I made him not insolent, but he was in far error.' 27 God will say, "Do not quarrel in My presence. I gave you the warning beforehand 28 “With Me, the decree does not change, and nor do I oppress the bondmen.” 29
