Surely We have created man, and We know the promptings of his heart, and We are nearer to him than even his jugular vein. 16 Moreover, there are two scribes, one each sitting on the right and the left, recording everything. 17 Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). 18 And the agony of death cometh in truth. (And it is said unto him): This is that which thou wast wont to shun. 19 and [in the end] the trumpet [of resurrection] will be blown: that will be the Day of a warning fulfilled. 20 And there shall come every soul therewith shall be a driver and a witness. 21 [and will be told:] "Indeed, unmindful hast thou been of this [Day of Judgment]; but now We have lifted from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight today!" 22 And his Companion will say: "Here is (his Record) ready with me!" 23 [Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever, 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 "Who set up another ilah (god) with Allah, then (both of you) cast him in the severe torment." 26 ۞ and his associate [Satan] will say, "Lord, I did not make him transgress, he had already gone far astray himself." 27 He will say, “Do not dispute before Me – I had already warned you of the punishment.” 28 My Word is not changed; and never do I inflict the least wrong upon My servants.” 29
