NOW, VERILY, it is We who have created man, and We know what his innermost self whispers within him: for We are closer to him than his neck-vein. 16 Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes. 17 He utters not a word but there is by him a watcher at hand. 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth: this is that which thou hast been shunning. 19 And the trumpet shall be blown; that is the day of the threatening. 20 And every soul cometh, along with it a driver and a witness. 21 Assuredly thou wast in neglect thereof; now We have removed from off thee thy veil, so thy sight Today is piercing. 22 And (unto the evil-doer) his comrade saith: This is that which I have ready (as testimony). 23 "Cast each stubborn unbeliever into Hell," (they will be told), 24 forbidder of good, transgressor and doubter, 25 Who sets up another god with Allah, so do cast him into severe chastisement. 26 ۞ And his comrade shall say, 'Our Lord, I made him not insolent, but he was in far error.' 27 Allah will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already, in advance, sent you the threat. 28 The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves. 29
