Indeed, We created the human. We know the whisperings of his soul, and are closer to him than the jugular vein. 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 He uttereth no word but there is with him an observer ready. 18 And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!" 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And there shall come every soul therewith shall be a driver and a witness. 21 (He will be told), "You were completely heedless of this day. We have removed the veil from your eyes and your vision will now be sharp and strong". 22 And his companions shall say: This is what is ready with me. 23 (They will be told,) "Throw into hell every persistent disbelievers, 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 who has set up another god besides God: cast him into severe punishment" -- 26 ۞ His companion will say: O our Lord! caused him not to transgress but he was himself in error far off. 27 Allah will say: wrangle not in My presence, and I had already proferred unto you the threat. 28 The word will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants." 29
