Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of those which carry away while dispersing. 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 and those speeding along with ease, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
