Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
