Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
