Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
