Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 and the smooth runners 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
