Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
