Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which carry dust particles, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good). 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
