Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
