Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Woe to the liars 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
